Durant la seconde guerre mondiale les Allemands ont construit 4 gros blockhaus, quasiment identiques, sur les hauteurs des h�pitaux L�on B�rard et San Salvadour. Ces constructions avaient vraisemblablement pour but d'interdire le golfe de Giens (tombolo Ouest) et les plages de l'Almanarre. D'autres petits blockhaus existent autour.
